I intend to meet the brief of appealing to Britain's elite by the title of my lifestyle magazine being 'London Luxury' which symbolises materialism. Using Blumler and Katz's Uses & Gratification theory this can provide a sense of personal identity. I used a long shot for my cover image to capture the model's outfit and sustainable tote bag. My magazine will be £4.95 as its an increase of the average price, therefore attracting higher classes. My slogan will be 'Precision, Power, Prestige' summarising my aims for the magazine, informing people and setting expectations.
Gobold will be my font as it captures everything you like in serif fonts, connoting formality and high class. My use of bold letters illustrates ideas of importance. My colour scheme will be earthy colours to support the climate change act, but also royal blue to show professionalism. My double page will feature climate change, but also high-class eco friendly brands. I will use mise-en-scene to communicate meanings by using a serious expression to convey confidence, tall and straight body language to express assertiveness.
I intend to reach London's residents who are affluent people with social grades of AB by showing luxury women's fashion. Stuart Hall's Reception theory and preferred reading suggests my target audience will accept this idea as it reinforces stereotypes of women being feminine. Using my main feature Taylor Carey, I challenge stereotypes of women not being opinionated or being business owners, as she is represented as a prominent with a prosperous background.
My magazine will be aimed at 18-40 year olds as Taylor Carey is intended to be in this age group, these ages are the most aspirational. As the aristocratic over focus on extravagant consumer goods e.g. luxury cars and fashion accessories, using cover lines and the stories I will talk about new, expensive fashion items and designers(Taylor Carey) , that are also environmentally friendly and cruelty free- her tote bag.
